As the name implies, Fusarium wilt of queen palm and Mexican fan palm is primarily observed on Syagrus romanzoffiana queen palm and Washingtonia robusta Mexican fan palm or Washington palm. When this disease first appeared, it was called "Fusarium decline. This disease is similar to Fusarium wilt of Canary Island date palm, but the pathogen subspecies and host range are different. The leaf symptoms include a one-sided chlorosis yellowing or necrosis brown due to death of the leaf blades, with a distinct reddish brown or dark brown stripe on the petiole and rachis. The internal petiole and rachis tissue is discolored.

The delicate beauty of palm Arecaceae leaves may fool you into categorizing these trees as high maintenance plants. But lush and lovely as they are with all their leafy tropical allure, palms are easy to maintain with just a little TLC. Water is essential to any plant — but to a palm, whether indoors or out, it is critical. However, finding the right palm tree that will thrive in your home, office, or yard is key. While palm trees may require some maintenance as they shed their fronds, nothing is better at establishing that classic, tropical look. Northern adapted palms can even thrive in warmer, southern climates. Southern State adapted palm trees can be found planted and growing extensively throughout the country, principally because their growth rate is faster in the South than in the Northern States. The cost for Southern palms are also considerably less for large established specimens, making them much more suitable for projects that need fully grown trees right away to achieve a tropical feel.

Instead, many palms are pruned so severely that only a few fronds are left at the top. The practice of removing green fronds is now being carried out on all types of palms. That is detrimental to the palm and, more this is repeated, the sooner the palm could die.
